The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) places duties on people and companies who own, operate, or have control over lifting equipment.
LOLER states that a statutory Thorough Examination should be carried out every 6 months (more often if working in a hostile environment) by a Competent Assessed Person.
LOLER requires that all equipment used for lifting is fit for purpose, appropriate for the task and suitably marked. Written records of all Thorough Examinations must be maintained, and any defects found noted and reported to the responsible person.
Powered access platforms or Mobile Elevating Work Platforms are designed to help operators work safely at height.
